As an abstract artist, when I start a new painting, I often am working through an emotion. That might be confidence, worry, fear, love. But as I paint, I feel my most honest self. And I let that inner voice pick the colors, the strokes, the materials, and marks that help me work through and process my feelings. When I am finished with a painting, I feel more whole, positive, curious, bold, and feisty. People are able to feel this – my work is described by others as deep, powerful and joyful.

I am a self taught artist and have been an artist my entire life, although only since 2018 selling my art. Outside of a couple of classes in high school, I have no formal training. But I love to explore, play, and get messy. Deep in my soul, I believe that we are all creatives – be it writers, cooks, gardeners, architects, web designers, performers – everyone has something to say and a way to say it.

For me, I have shown my love for myself and others with my heart and hands creating art - and knowing that even if I fail in trying something new, I have learned something.

My mixed media works have multiple layers and often include repurposed materials – with many layers, textures and complexity. My alcohol ink paintings are softer and simpler, but still have strength in the colors and lines. My encaustics and cyanotypes are more mysterious; these tap into my fascination with the mysteries of nature. And then my newest exploration is cold wax paintings – which capture all of the above.

Some personal stuff - I am a mother of four adult men. The youngest has moderate-severe autism. I am a breast cancer survivor, 17 years clean. In 2023, my husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. I have been the primary income provider for the family for 30 yrs and my husband took on role of raising the kids. My life has been messy and beautiful on the daily.
